My Dollhouse Origin Story
This story begins and ends with a dollhouse. When I was little my father promised to craft me such a structure. Being lower middle class in an international tourism destination, we did not have the money for that Barbie Dream House. This promise was completed only a few short years later, unlike many stories of the kind I read. Thus began a lifelong love of miniature spaces.
My first venture into hobby blogging was launching MaeBerry Cosplay in 2017, which is now an award-winning blog and one of the ‘Top 75 Cosplay Blogs’ on the internet as designated by Feedspot.
I still do cosplay, mostly at Renaissance Faires, but now I spend more time making miniatures. My first couple of projects were with ©MGA Entertainment Inc’s Miniverse resin Lifestyle balls, then I graduated into building Rolife® rooms and now I’m renovating a ©Greenleaf Dollhouses Harrison model I rescued from Facebook Marketplace. You can follow along on this blog for details on this renovation.
I was always a multimedia crafter. I took a review of art forms for my BA in Arts Administration where I dipped into multiple forms of jewelry making, ceramics, and even some oversized pop art with a U By Kotex box the size of a large dresser which was best utilized as a cat tree. I also lost my thumb to my first cosplay. So, there is no tool or project from which I will shy away.
Moving a lot, being so far away from my homeland, and unable to decorate the world around me, I turned to creating miniature spaces. My style is driven by authenticity, … creating an authentic world, true to life one miniature space at a time. So, I invite you to follow along, and if anything I create brings you joy, feel free to click that ‘buy’ button to brighten your own miniature spaces.
